I got my baby chicks about two months ago, as you all know they were quite adorable. I have 3 dogs and a cat so I definetely kept my cat away (he is an outsie/inside cat) My dogs are normally sweet so I took two of them to see the chicks. They were fine at first, in fact one of them had no problem at all. So I pick a chick up to show my terrier and he grabbed it. I freaked of cource and started scolding my and screaming at the same time. My dog finally let go of the little chick, just to go after it again. The chick ran and hid until I got it. I got those dogs the heck out of there. The chick was tramatized but other than that it is now about nine weeks old and all my chicks are doing well. It was quite a scare for me so now my dogs don't get to be by them. Never trust your most loving dog.

I have 2 danes and it's the same thing. My female will let my chicks crawl on her, but my male would love to snatch them up and eat them!

terriers are supposed to go after little varmints. it's their job.
your dog will just need lots of time to know that they are not prey, but part of your home.

Well right now they are out in their new coop my husband built for them. They have a fairly big area but I can't free range because of varments, but he's in the process of building a fairly large run, for them during the day.
