so I was giving them food and water
and one snuck out.
i saw it, closed the door super fast
and ran and got him
the dog had eaten a few of his feathers [it's a beagle]
i picked the dog up, yelled at him.
not thinking about the chicken, he was running around not knowing what to do.
see we have 5 cages and 1 huge coop and run. the bird got out of a cage so all the birds are by the edge thinking oh snap!
so i'm holding the dog [the dog is on shock collar, with a wire under the ground] while im trying to get a chicken.
not fun

I lost one chicken to a dog ad was unbelievably p*****. My new dog has pinned them down but I have caught her and screamed at her. I have to supervise everytime they come out so I dont loose no more

my dad was so mad when he heard. he ran out to the dog and said:
IF YOU GOT THAT CHICKEN! THEY'D BE EATIN YOU FOR A LONG TIME BOY!
and he was mad, now were getting rid of him =[
but keeping the other one, she dosnt care if the chickens get out. she kinda sits back and watches, after her little incident.
i wish we could let our chickens oout, we cant do to the retard dog and were too close to the road AND we would never get them back ahaha

Isn't that weird about dogs? You just never know. We had 2 dogs--A chocolate lab and we kept one of her puppies--a black lab. The Chocolate lab just roams with the chickens--they actually walk over her and hang with her when she lies down to chew on bones in the middle of a field. The black lab from early on was a chicken killer. Just matter-of-factly reached into a cage and pulled out an 8 week old chicken and ripped its throat out. You just never know.

We still have the chocolate lab, but not the black lab. But he was such a wonderful dog in every other way.....

Take care, Lee
