Thank you. She/he was doing fine this evening. The silkies hid out in their coop most of the day. But they did come out for free range time. We lock the dogs on the deck and the chickens get to roam. I did notice when they first came out of the coop the dogs barked from the deck and they scrambled back in. But that did not last long. Once they realized the dogs were up they came back out and spent the next two hours pecking and scratching.
We are going to move them to a secure place in the pasture where they do not have to worry about the yard dogs. We will use electric fences to keep them safe.
I just read this thread. I am so glad your little silky is okay and that you got so many responses so quickly to help you deal with the situation. It must have been pretty scary for all.
the silkie will prolly be fine if there are no obvious injuries my brothers dog got one of my ee chicks that was about 2 months old took a while to get the bird from the dog as he kept running and hiding but the bird lived and should start laying within the next month

Thank you. I have to say this board has kept me sane several times in my short chicken rasing life. The resonses came fast and helped me keep calm and calm down the little silkie. My grandchildren wanted to hold them today but I told them to let them rest they had a hard day. I can't even start to imagine the terror they went through.
I just want to thank everyone for their advice and kind words.
