And has hotspots (On her neck) , and cancer (where u can just look at her and see she has it. U dont even have to feel around <its that bad> ) , and allergies (realllly bad, she cant have wheat or fish. her paws are so bad they are bald.)
She is 10 or 11 ( i cant remeber which one..). She doesnt seem like she is in pain, so we are not going to put her down. she still plays and stuff, but none of us think she is going to make it to 2013 :(
Any suggestions on getting rid of hotspots, cancer, and/or allergies?

(this is Annie a few years ago :)

It's hard when our pets start getting older on us. My buddy turned 12 this month, and sometimes I just wonder where the time went. What does your vet say about your dog's problems? Have you been offered any meds or anything to make him more comfortable?

Well, you can't get rid of cancer. And I dont know about hotspots or allergies but I can give a hug ((((((((((((((((hug))))))))))))))

they try to help us but we cant do their stuff bc the wheat and fish. We have to buy 'special' stuff :)

There is chemotherapy for certain types of cancer which will give you a bit more time with your furred friend. This is a decision that must be made between you and your vet.

Just because your pet is getting on in years, doesn't meant she can't have a good quality of life. Golden retrievers are famous for having allergies, and at her age your goal is to keep her comfortable. Hotspots are a symptom of her allergies and can be treated. With the pre-existing conditions you mention the safest thing I can suggest is an oral antihistamine. Many folks have good luck with a raw diet or prescription diets. However, please change her food slowly.

Short acting oral steroids will also give her relief, but again your veterinarian will have to prescribe those.

Aging pets really remind us of your own mortality. Maybe that's their mission. Anyway, she deserves to be spoiled. She's taken care of you all these years. Now you can take care of her.

I know what you are going through. We just had our 15 year old english setter put down and it was really hard. For the allergies you can try Benedryl allergy. We give it to our dog for his allergies. Just enjoy her while you have her, time is way to short not to. Give her a hug for me.
