I have a little rooster that hates my dog. Everytime my dog is near him he walks around her as if sizing the dog up. Then, he flies at her neck and clucks like crazy. My dog always runs away and now is frightened when a chicken is near her. Does anyone else have naughty chickens?

I have a miniature dachshund and I have 4 chickens. When I let my girls out to free range the youngest girl Mable and EE goes straight for my doggy. I think they are only playing as my doggy is just as excited to see her as she is to see him! Mable will go after Winston (doggy) and try to get his ball then chase him around like crazy. I think Winston likes it though cause he always high tails it around the yard! Kinda funny to watch just hope Mable doesn't get aggressive when she gets older.....

Dog fears roster my pluck his eyes out dont want to take the chance of a one punch bite knock out

That's a good thing. Dogs can kill chickens. I have 3 dogs and they not allowed near my chickens.
I agree. I wish my dogs were afraid. They are not allowed near my chickens. To them, chickens are edible squeaky toys. The electric fence is not just to keep bears, foxes, wolves, pine martins, and fishers out.

We had a small flock of hens, when we brought our new dog home. She was already 6 months old when we got her and a bit skiddish.
We opened the van door, she jumped out and the free ranging chickens came running over to see what was new. She thought they were coming after her and ran off. Now, she is afraid of chickens!
She's a sheltie, and chases down any squirrel or rabbit she sees. We have acreage and woods for her to do it in, so she should be master of all. I'm thinking maybe we start with new baby chicks and let her tower over them to start with. What do you think?

If you introduce them with the chicks safely in a dog crate or something they can't get out of ... you know, the "see-no-touch" method.
