my dog is worried about the chicks!

Delta worries if they aren't moving, as in when they are asleep...so she bumps the brooder box with her nose to wake them up! Then looks in to make sure they are moving! I have to take her into my bedroom at night and shut the door so I know they will get some sleep!

my heeler just stands there intently staring into the brooder. i have to send him to his room several times a day because i do not like the intensity of his gaze. but when i take the chicks out he looks away from them and put them all over his body and they fly off and then back on and he just watches. he stays down and lets me put them on his face and belly and then i back off and he just lays there. my little dog is afraid of all things winged.

Our Rottie watches them in the brooder with her little stump just a wiggling. And she sleeps on the floor next to the table they're on. My DH lets her sniff and lick the chicks, but that's as far as our dog/chicken interaction goes.

Not a Rottie, but has stump....will wag. He absolutely loves them!

I love reading all these stories. My three year old lab will be meeting some one day old chicks this thursday. Although she is the sweetest pea, she is also a princess and hasn't had to share my attention and affection with any other pets.

I am hoping she will mother them and help me take care of them!
