My hen Runty is 3.5 years old and hasn't been laying for a while. I thought it was the stress of a rooster that didn't like her. He went to a new home and she's in charge again. She's been breathing much faster than normal for about a month and I took her to the vet a little over a week ago and completed 7 days, 2x a day of Enroflaxacin for what the vet thought was egg yolk peretenitis. She seemed slightly better but 2 days later she looked sick again, hunched over closed eyes. I brought her in the house and gave her an Epson salt bath, but she doesnt seem like she's any better. I dont know what else this could be or how to help her. I never saw egg looking droppings like many of the blogs said. She does have poultry fleas that I discovered during this process and have been trying to get rid of them, but its hard to imagine that she's this sick from that. Does anyone have any ideas?

External parasites can reduce blood volume and cause a chicken to become very sick, so you do need to find a way to treat that. Permethrin poultry dusting powder is safe, non-toxic and effective.

Did your vet take any X-rays? This hen may have reproductive tumors and not a reproductive infection. Imaging can help determine what's going on in her oviduct.
