I dye my pond with an organic dye, others wise it would be black from all the duck poop. A gallon jug lasts me 2years. So i think its worth buying.

What's the name of that dye? I think I need to do that in my pond too, all the horses play in it and it is just brown

I don't remember the brand, but if you go to tractor supply, they have multiple kinds of dye. Either ask, or read the backs. That will tell you if it can be drank or not.
