Not that I've ever cared, but my Midnight is the best dog in the world. To be honest, I don't even know what kind of mutt she is, but she has taken up the job of guarding our chickens. Last night she alerted me to a possum in a tree that was in our yard. I just lost my little Dove, a self blue OEGB hen that was sitting on 13 eggs a day ago. The eggs had just started hatching and in the morning there was nothing except for bloody shells. I am sure that possum was coming back for more.

When my dog heard the chickens bawking a few weeks ago, she started barking so I let her out. She ran up to a tree in my yard barking and growling and off flew a huge red tail hawk.

Last night was the first night ever she spent the night outside in the backyard, but she had no problem with it. I feel much safer knowing she is out there. Not only that, I am so proud of her.

What an awesome dog. I would be so proud of her too. I do have to disagree with you though. I have a friend who works for a vet's office. She says their are no mutts they are all Designer Dogs.

So you have a designer dog like I do. Give her extra treats and lot's of love.

In the old days ... we called 'em "Heinz 57" .
Gotta love them. I had one, saddest day when I had to rehome him because I was moving back to an apartment in town.

Congrats on the wonderful dog.

thanks everyone, I really had to share, she has protected my kids from strangers, and she has protected me from the meter reader (who scared the stuff outta me)

but she's really not agressive at all, she is so sweet and gentle with chicks, with my cat, my kids, but if she could have got in that tree to that possum, I think she would have killed it herself.

When my cat comes in, Midnight will lick her on the top of her head to greet her. At first my cat wasn't crazy about that, but now my cat walks over to Midnight expecting it.
