My Dog...

Hey there guys! Does anybody here know how to train your dog to not each your chickens egg? My dog keeps sneaking in their coop and eats their eggs. He also eats them whenever they lay them outside the coop. This is getting quite annoying especially since my dog gets sick afterward.

First try bitter apple spray applied to nest areas. Make certain a few eggs touched up with it at first so dog gets a real dose if still removes egg from nest. Other spices you can not trust as my dogs seem addicted to peppers.

I had the exact same problem. I tried to train my dogs to not eat the eggs, but it really hasn't worked for me. The only thing that I found that works is making sure your hens are laying in the coop and, if you are free range them, having the door big enough for the chickens to get in and out, but small enough that the dogs can't get in.

But my heres the thing about my dog.
Looks like a poodle.

Acts like a pig.

He'll eat anything.

I was thinking the exact same thing: make a door thats small enough so the dog wont fit but big enough for them chickens

Not sure how big your poodle is but you could use a pallet turned sideways with slats just far enough apart for the hens to get threw but not the dog.
I use this method when letting new babies out of the brooder to be with the rest of the free rangers.
