My drake is a massive A-hole! Help?

It defiantly is the time of year! Also carry the broom with you when you go inside their pen use it as a block he isn’t to go past it after you. If he does use the broom to sweep his butt away. Playing the dominant role is always good, main thing is being consistent . My drake is going on 9 yrs old and is such a sweet heart but I still have to remind him and my gander I will not tolerate bad behavior.
Awesome! Thank you! And 9 years?!? Wow! I thought we only got our babies for 6 or 7.

Actually he’s a spry fellow for his age! Loves his girls too! His dad went pretty much lame his last few years of his life he was almost 12 went he died. But Opie hasn’t had to chase drakes all day like his dad did so maybe his legs will hold out. I honestly have an old folks home here. 💞

My drake went from snuggle butt to ahole literally overnight. He's obsessed with the egg and we fight over it each morning. Once I get it, he chases me through the barn. Then he's sweet again until there is another egg. I have him a ceramic one but he wants all the eggs.

Maybe that’s a good sign he would be a good dad? My drake was a great dad and is protective of the nest. He lets me take the eggs but complains about it. He tries to call the gals over but they don’t care

Thanks I may try that! I've heard that you have to show them up but I never knew how to do it. I just thought you had to stand off with him which wasnt working too well for me haha
I had to do the same thing with my two drakes. I cried the first time. I had to hold his little head down 2 minutes. I had to do it a few times, it was not a one and done. Now they run to me in a nice way. One big drake is dominant over the flock but has never given me any problem. It was the young ones I had the issues with
