My drake is a real gentleman

he he he well at least I think he is being a gentleman, My ducks are nesting at the moment and the drake wont touch any food I give to them until the girls have had their fill first. Is this normal Mallard behaviour?
 
I guess mine are rude.

They jump right into it. It is every hen and drake for itself.
 
I've had gentlemanly drakes before. It seems more common with trios or very small flocks. Less competition, perhaps?
 
I have 1 drake and 2 ducks, I thought he was being gentlemanly because the girls are sitting on their eggs most of the day and not eating all day like they usually do
