My drake mated my duck!

Okay, so a century has gone by since I last posted on this forum, but I got to watch something so cool this morning!
My 15week old drake mated one of my 15week old ducks!
His curly feather is fully in and now we're just waiting for her to lay the eggs.
I'm assuming he has also mated my other duck, but time will only tell.
No more free-ranging for them! I had a feeling something was going on on those bushes.....

Why can't they free range? And the hop on top occurs awhile before they are sexually mature....you probably won't see eggs for another couple if months

Yes I would like to know too about no free ranging? My male Khaki Campbell has mated with my Welsh Harlequin and since both are quite young they are not laying. Guess they are doing "practicing" for the future

I don't want them to lay their eggs in the hedges, I want them to learn to lay in their coop .
There are too many places they can lay and I don't wanna give them that opportunity lol.

Our ducks lay over night....not sure if thats how they all are or not, but I have never had a problem with them laying other places....at night they get "put away" and thats when they lay their eggs

My duck lays over night also. I have read on here if you are having a problem with them laying other places to not let them out until after eight and they would lay them in the coop. I usually let mine out between seven and eight and the egg is always right there in the coop. I say egg because my other ducks are not old enough to lay yet.
