my duck breaths with his beak open

hi! my duck sometimes breaths with his beak open and idk if i should worry about it… i usually give him water but like is it a big deal if i don’t? he only does it when he’s traveling in his kennel. thanks!

Just like a dog, your duck is probably doing this because he is nervous. It gets his heartbeat up and since they don't sweat, excess heat is expelled through the mouth. Making sure, especially for a long drive, to have water available in the kennel is good.
