MY DUCK CAN'T STAND or WALK, HER LEGS SEEM TO CRUMPLE

Pics
UPDATE:
She looks like stronger, but still her movements are weird. She stands on two legs then she try to do a walk and then she crash, but fast she stand up again and try to do a walk and crash again.

This way she is moving pretty much around all my big backyard and interesting thing is that all ducks are slowly moving around her.

So now i just will visti her trough the day and put food and water under her nose. Because she moves away from food and water.
It may take a while for her to gain her strength back but putting her food and water close by will help. If it isn't extremely hot there can you try moistening her feed some with warm water to see if that helps with her eating add a little apple cider vinegar to the water before mixing it in the feed and just do a small amount to see if she will eat it. Sometimes when they don't feel well moistening the food helps. The ACV will help keep the food from going bad if it isn't too hot. Just keep it out of the sun.

UPDATE:
Looks like she will survive. Now she is moving like a Michael Jackson while doing a moonwalk. But she is moving with the pack.So looks like special food help her and she is getting better. I just hope she dont go and seat again for a month on the eggs.

Also i m wondering if maybe my Swedish Yellow Duch Male is unable to penetrate Ruan Duck female. Because i see he is hopping her and she layed eggs but nothing have come out from that eggs.

Also Can this male make babies to Indian Runner Ducks?

Problem is that this Swedish Yellow Duck Male is small and this other ducks are large.

And one more question:
Why is this male chasing a new born duck all the time. She does not let her come near sometimes and he trys to fight with her.

Yea when this ducks were little mother (the duck that was ill) protect them. I did lost one duck but i think some predator take it. Now this other duck that is almost 2 months old is actually bigger than this male Swedish Yellow Duck, but this little Swedish Yellow Ducks are pretty aggresive for they small size.

How is your female doing that wasn't walking very well dadaas?

Drakes can be pretty mean to the point of killing ducklings even though they might be larger they still don't k now how to defend themselves against an adult drake.

Hello everyone

Sorry if this topic has already been covered, I have tried searching but can't find anything.

I have 5 ducks all nearly 2 years old.  Three days ago one of them started to struggle walking and I thought she might have been eggbound (having experienced that with one of the others last year), so I had a quick look and she did have an egg and with a little encouragement she did lay it, soft shelled and unbroken. In hindsight, I don't think she was ready to lay it as it was 5pm and they normally lay in the morning.

She was still unable to walk but did drag herself around, trying to stand but then her legs just seemed to crumple and she would fall forward, before sitting right back on them. She is still eating, drinking and cleaning herself.  Her feathers have gone very 'wispy' but they did this last year and in spring she grew new feathers and was ok again.

The corner of my garden flooded this year and all the ducks spent a lot of time digging & billing in the mucky water but this particular one was there all day everyday and seemed to be eating the soil - I guess it was full of little bugs. At this point in time, the weather was good and as the water dropped it turned very smelly/stagnant so I fenced the area off.

On Tuesday morning, she was shivering when I opened the duck house door, so last night I brought her inside my house. This morning she seemed bright, not shivering and she was drinking happily but still could not stand.

The ducks are fed corn and have free-range of the garden (about 3/4 acre) where they have a good diet of worms, woodlice, flys and other garden bugs together with the grass. I also give them lettuce, chard & spinach from time to time. There is a bowl of oyster shell next to their feeder. They have an inground pond which I clean weekly in winter and refill with well water (which has been passed as potable). They have a bed of straw and in winter I put a layer of newspaper underneath to help absorb the liquid.

The other 4 ducks are all still very healthy and feeding, swimming, sleeping, cleaning as normal.

I live fairly close to a river and at this time of year some of the wild mallards spend a lot of time in my garden using the pond and eating the corn. The island they usually live on is a lot smaller as the river is high so I guess they like the extra space.

Does anybody have any idea what might be wrong with Rosie, and what I can do? I live in rural SW France where the vets think ducks are for eating so a visit to one is not a good idea.

Thank you for taking time to read my post.

Hello I got my first ducks not to long ago they are always happy and healthy but ever since I got one she can't walk..she kinda walks on her legs and falls over constantly.... I got her at the age of 3weeks along with her sister and I thought she was just clumsy but as she got bigger she can bearly walk at all and had trouble getting into the pond.. Can swim good but cannot walk and her toes go together like the skin between her toes that are suppose to help ducks walk just always stay close... My hope was to free range them just as my chickens are but the chickens pick on her and she has no way to get away from them so they are in a dog kennel until I can find a solution. It's beginning to look almost sad and I feel like she might be suffering because of it.. If I half to I will put her down so she's not in pain but she's around 6 weeks old and has bearly started her life so I will try anything to help her..... If anyone has any ideas please let me know!!

What do they eat? I would start B vitamin supplementation immediately. Here is something I wrote up:

I would go with brewer's yeast. Forgive me for using capital letters, but for anyone else who may casually look over this thread, NOT baking yeast, NOT winemaking yeast. Brewer's yeast is a nutritional supplement and it provides niacin and a few other vitamins.

Generally, folks who supplement with brewer’s yeast use a tablespoon per cup of food.

Ducklings need about three times the niacin chicks do. And some ducklings get leg problems or seizures if they don't have enough niacin.

If you cannot find the brewer's yeast, or if you happen to have (here come the capital letters again, please forgive me) PLAIN niacin - NOT no-flush, NOT timed release, then dissolve 150 mg niacin per gallon of water for the duckling’s drinking water.

Another approach is to use B Complex capsules, and use the B3 - niacin - levels as a guide. Again, 150 mg B3 per gallon of drinking water.

Keep the little one on the supplements for about 8 weeks.

Sometimes it only takes a few days to see improvement.

You can also see how it went for Qwackers and Bentley from these threads.
