my duck egg is internally pipped at day 23...

Could be a few it was a mix where they came from, Rouen's, Swedish, Cayuga, possible golden 300, nothing super small or large really, what kind are yours?

Huh, those aren't small. High temps maybe? My eggs where market eggs so I have no idea. One egg quit several days ago so I did an eggtopsy. It was dark colored so I'm thinking Khaki Campbell.
I stopped turning the pipped egg but I'm still turning the others. I will put them all into lockdown tomorrow. Fingers crossed for baby duckies.

Yes I did figure out that I was running temp at around 101.5 instead of 99.5 I was relying on the wrong thermometer and should have just trusted my incubator I guess :/ I still have no external pip I can still hear the baby inside moving and pecking about but I'm worried since the heat was so high the ducky might not have the strength to break out... At would point should I give this ducky a breather hole? How long will he have in there worth of air????I'm so worried for him

It has at least 48 hours of air I believe. If it pipped the air cell and is making noise it's probably strong enough to externally pip. Again, I'm no expert. This is only my second duck hatch. I'm overrun with staggered hatches of chicks and ducklings right now so I'm just gonna let whatever happens happen. In my experience if my eggs don't hatch on their own there is usually a reason and it's a lot less heartbreaking if they die in the shell vs having to cull them at 3 days old. It is really hard not to do everything in your power to help them though.

Well I did give him a breather hole about 2 hours ago and it was a struggle for me to break through the shell and the membranes were both very dry, in turn he has started peeping again and seems to be breathing much better now :) it looked to be really struggling and panting when I candled it and since I only have 2 eggs left out 6-7 I think I did the right thing

Let me know how it turns out just in case I ever need to do it. I'm rooting for the little guy. Mine hasn't pipped yet. I candled all the others and most of the air cells are drawn way down now. They got weighed, marked, and are now officially in lockdown. Time to sit on my hands for 3 days. Good luck.

Well I had to further open the hole this morning because he had made no progress and appeared to be running out of steam, all the veins were absorbed in the inner membrane too so I made sure everything was safe before I proceeded. I gently picked away shell and membrane very slowly til it appeared he could wiggle his way free easier. He was halfway out of the egg when I left for the doctor and now that I'm back he's completely out but still dragging the egg by a umbilical sort of thing near his butt, the yolk is completely absorbed also, he's drying and learning to walk now but I'll keep you posted on him as he progresses

Congrats. Sounds like you handled it like a pro. Hopefully he gets a buddy soon. My egg pipped and is just sitting there being an egg. Boring. Lol

Here he is drying in the bator
