My preference is bed pads or puppy pads, they can easily walk on it, it Absorbs moisture when they go and do there smacking thing in the water and I don't have to worry about any issues with there feet. LOL
Just a thought.
Aspen is what some have used with no issues that's weird. your ducks are just special they want special treatment. So I'll answer for them, NO... LOLIt's the only thing "new"... Before I even posted I had cleaned the brooder and put a towel back instead. Can I put something on that? I've never had these problems before!

I love them, they are easy to clean up, and absorb the water from them making messes. and boy they got that down don't they. LOLI think I will go steal the puppy pads mom has... She doesn't use them anymore!!
