I noticed my cayuga duck, Pip, was acting a little weird today laying down in the middle of the lawn. When I walked up to her she got up seemed to be moving ok. I gave her snacks and she ate normally. I thought she was good but I saw her laying down again then walking really slowly. I examined her and noticed that her left back toe is bent in oddly. I wasn’t sure if there was anything I could do? I have leftover carprofen I could give her from another duck since it seems to be bothering her, but I was a little worried because she is 10 and I wasn’t sure if it’s okay for older ducks. I wasn’t sure if there was a way to fix her toe or should I just let her rest in the pen?

Thanks!

Yeah, a niacin deficiency would likely not cause a bent back toe. Old birds seem to develop these type of problems, and In my experience, they can be left alone, do you think this happened recently, when you move it does it feel broken, does she move in pain when you move it?

Okay thanks! After I took the photos I put them in the pen to rest. Yes I think it likely happened today. I haven't noticed her acting weird at all besides today. by move it do you mean just the whole toe in general or where it's bent? I was afraid of hurting her so I didn't mess with it too much. She definitely wasn't happy with me holding her so she was kinda moving a lot but she didn't quack or anything.
