I’m going to read to you from one of my books
A prolapsed penis is very rarely fatal provided it’s properly attended to bacterial infections are the usual culprits and a round of anti-antibiotics and anti-inflammatory/pain medicine for 7 to 14 days will often do the trick provided your Drake has ample access to swimming water (especially clean tap water)
And is given a break from mating by separating him from any females.
A topical antibiotic ointment like bacitracin plus can also be applied to the protruding penis and external vent one – two times daily to keep the area moist and help stave off infection.
If an additional antibiotic is not needed, Vaseline petroleum jelly can be substituted to aid in moisture retention.
The more time your boy spends floating in clean tapwater, the more likely he is to recover quickly so keep his kiddy pool as fresh as you can, and encourage him to swim as often as possible. To help prevent infection you will also want to keep his pen and house as tidy as possible during his recovery, so remember to actively remove any piling fecal matter and lay down fresh bedding frequently, especially in his favorite resting spots, where he will be spending a lot of time
If attended to immediately, a prolapsed penis will usually retreat back into your Drake’s body without a few days and without any further hangups, but there are instances where it won’t.
The longer your Drake’s penis remains outside of his body. The less likely it is to make a permanent retreat and the more prone it is to infection if it doesn’t respond to continued medication or if it worsens, you need to get him to the vet for an immediate partial penectomy.
