My duck is having seizures.

I asked google before posting that niacin deficiency causes seizures. Google and many other sources said yes that it does. So not sure what you mean by that. I always double check before posting something so I don’t give anyone the wrong information. It’s been posted on here too, many times in fact.

If you could provide me with one trusted link saying that it can cause seizures I'd be glad to look at it :D , I have looked/read basically every article out there on niacin deficiencies and have never seen such a statement.

Ok the link I already posted on here said it. Maybe it isn’t accurate maybe it is. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/duck-seizures.778060/

“Animal products contain niacin, so mealworms, earthworms, slugs, fish (some people give their littles the tiny feeder fish you can get at pet stores), those things boost niacin. It's also called Vitamin B3. It is necessary for proper development of the nervous system. Most often, seems to me, it is noticed when it affects the legs, but we have read of duckling seizures stopping with niacin. Some have also found ducklings Vitamin E deficient.”
And what does it matter? By treating it like niacin deficiency you also treat the thiamine deficiency by using the B complex so what is there to argue about? If I’m wrong show your proof.

Your duck is obviously niacin deficient, you can tell by the pigeon-toed legs, so you better start treating her with a Cattle B complex brand immediately, and since she is on the older side, it may take a few weeks or more until there is a noticeable change in her walking.

Something I do want to clarify is that a deficiency in niacin will not cause Seizures, a thiamine deficiency can but not niacin. Could you post a video of her when she is having a seizure?
I just wanted to say thank you for not touting niacin as a cure all wonder drug. :goodpost:

Sorry I had to bring you into this @Miss Lydia.

That was not @Miss Lydia who you are quoting, that's @Amiga if you read the thread. The problem I see is how long it took you to find information that barley suggests seizures and niacin are related, get my point :D?

If one were to give B complex containing thiamine (which most do) yes, if the bird was thiamine deficient it probably would probably cure/subside the symptoms. I do think this discussion is leading away from why the OP started the thread in the first place, so I say we both stop, all I wanted to do is clarify that a niacin deficiency will not cause actual seizures for people in the future that read this thread to avoid confusion.

You know, I tried hard to help the OP. And it takes me a while to type so you saying that it isn’t true. But hey it’s no ones fault that someone believes something is true and ya read it and then you believe. I clicked on three different websites I think two were posts and one was the link you mentioned and the same one I posted and they said that niacin deficiency can cause seizures. So I want to I apologize to @Foxfarms455 for my mistake I should’ve clicked on multiple more websites.
But I still stand by saying that the b complex should take care of everything.

There is no need to apologize, everyone makes mistake's on here, I know I make a few and I wish more people would actually correct me instead of letting it slip.
