Once I took a puppy through puppy obedience classes where the trainer used a clicker. Depending on what behaviour you are trying to cultivate, with puppies we wanted to clicker to represent something "good" so we used it in conjuction with treats. So when they hear the sound, it is connected to a good thing.

Exactly Rebbetzin, in this case however the goal is to distract it every time you seee it going near the lips. You probably wont ever need the clicker for much else as far as your duck is concerned. if you get it to see the clicker as a reward then you will not get your point across, it will think that you are rewarding it.

It's worth a try, i think the clicker is more of a commanding noise and you can get them for under a dollar at petco.
