Does it hurt when ducks bite?! If it does I can see how that would be a problem.

yes, to my mother and my brother. He sometimes bite me to play but he’s gentle to me and my dad.

Most likely he is being dominant towards your other family members and has imprinted on you and your dad. Are you the ones that spend the most time with him?

I don't know much about ducks, but....so drakes are more likely to 'attack' only half of the human family members?

Well, it sounds like they are treating it like a pet and not a farm animal. So, it finds fancy with the OP and the dad and not the other family members. It is trying to "run off" the others. It is treating the 2 like mates and the others it wants no business with.
Or it is just being a bossy drake and running them off because it wants them to leave him or his area alone.

maybe, but he knows that we’re playing with him(like he wags his tail when we play with him). When my brother play with him, he pets him but he bites my brother but still wags his tail. (the drake’s name is cracker)
