He had alway been sickly. Had weak legs. One of which went lame. We had kept him inside with our duck Sparkles who also has a lame leg.
Went to say good morning today and found he had passed in the night. He was stiff as a board. Rigor had set in already. Sparkles was snuggled up to him. He looks like he went peacefully.
He was feisty and snuggly. And such an affectionate duck
He is the first duck I have lost. I knew he was always a bit sickly but still hurts that he went so soon. He was just under 2 years old. I tried to give him the best life I could.
He got to swim in our swimming pool, got treats and warmth and affection.
RIP little man.

Lovely pictures of him and everyone!
its so awful to lose the ones you’re closest to, especially when you don’t get a real goodbye. it certainly looks like you gave him the best life and passing a duck could ask for, i can see how content and loved he felt in those photos and he had a painless end feeling comfortable and safe.
