He had alway been sickly. Had weak legs. One of which went lame. We had kept him inside with our duck Sparkles who also has a lame leg.

Went to say good morning today and found he had passed in the night. He was stiff as a board. Rigor had set in already. Sparkles was snuggled up to him. He looks like he went peacefully.

He was feisty and snuggly. And such an affectionate duck

He is the first duck I have lost. I knew he was always a bit sickly but still hurts that he went so soon. He was just under 2 years old. I tried to give him the best life I could.

He got to swim in our swimming pool, got treats and warmth and affection.

RIP little man.

i’m so sorry :( its so awful to lose the ones you’re closest to, especially when you don’t get a real goodbye. it certainly looks like you gave him the best life and passing a duck could ask for, i can see how content and loved he felt in those photos and he had a painless end feeling comfortable and safe.

So sorry to read this. I have read through some threads you've started in the past and I can tell you care deeply for your ducks. I'm sure Nibbler knows he was loved. Thank you for taking such good care of him. He sounds like such a sweet boy.

Thanks all.

Nibbler and Peep were my first ducks I got to raise and keep with me. They will always hold a special place for me. I had to go away for a few days earlier in the year and when I came back, all my ducks swarmed around me, but Peep and Nibbler snuggled up next to me and wouldn’t leave me. We had a strong bond and, even though I could tel he wasn’t doing great, still hurt to lose him.
