How big was the chain in size, and what was it made of, metal, or a plastic-type chain?

the chain was maybe one and a half centimeters long and maybe one fourth wide it was hard for me to determine because I didn't have time to grab a ruler. it was made out of metal it looked like some sort of metal plated with a weird goldish paint?
