That's what I had always thought until I went to buy some muscovy ducklings from someone. He had his ducklings drinking out of a water bottle. They were a few weeks old, clean and then pen didn't have that awful duck odor. Since then I've tried it with ducklings, goslings, chicks, poults, and quail and it's been great.
