My ducklings are weak

Ducklings that young shouldn't be in water for more than maybe 10 minutes maximum and need to be able to have a way to get out if they wish to. If the water is too cold, that could be the problem, especially if it were prolonged exposure or they didn't have the ability to get out. I'm glad most of them are recovering and perking back up! Baby ducklings don't have developed oil glands yet and without a mother to spread her oils on them, they can get waterlogged very easily. Good luck with your babies. Ducklings are so fun!

Yikes on having your fireplace going during 90°. Anything over 75 and I need the air conditioner. LOL.

I hope all of your ducklings continue to improve. Their down isn’t waterproof, so they can easily get waterlogged and cold, which exhausts them and can cause hypothermia, even in seemingly warm temperatures. Wild ducklings get groomed by momma duck, who uses her oil gland to waterproof her babies’ down. But domestic ducks reared in a brooder don’t have that protection. They need to have warmer swimming water, shorter swim times, and be dried off and kept warm until they are fully feathered and can use their own oil glands to waterproof their feathers.
