My ducks are bored. (same with my chickens and rabbits)

So winter is coming here and every morning when I go out to feed my ducks, they look bored.... Any toys or activities for them would be awesome

I own Muscovy ducks that for some reason aren't a big fan of their pool. I have a heater to the pool doesn't freeze over.

Also if you have any ideas for rabbit toys and chicken toys I would LOVE to hear them!!!!

Chickens: any kind of tub that has dirt for dust baths, hang cabbage or lettuce on a string just out of reach, mirrors, old cd's dangling where they can peck at them, make them a swing with a thick tree branch and some rope, any kind of container that you can stuff with treats that will either slowly fall out as they shove it around (like a peanut butter jar with dime size holes in it filled with sunflower seeds), also they love to perch so various perches of different heights, chickens love to hang out on tree stumps so a few different size firewood rounds would work perfect, a compost pile to scratch in, tree branches leaned up in a corner (check online to find out which kinds are toxic to chickens) for them to peck at and hide in, grasshoppers or crickets turned loose in their run, basically anything that promotes scratching and pecking is great. Careful of the treats though. Try to use healthier ones so you can use them more often

Rabbits: sticks to chew on, tunnels to hide in and play peekaboo with each other, anything wooden and nontoxic to rabbits that they can climb on and chew on is always a hit, a large but shallow tub filled with dirt to dig in, treats dangling on string, mine like a big pile of grasshay in the middle of the floor that they tunnel in and kick around and munch on, and even just a cardboard box will keep them entertained for hours!

I don't have ducks yet so I can't help with that one.

My rabbits love unsprayed limbs from apple trees to gnaw on. It is obvious, but I have to reiterate no pesticides. Mine think it is candy! Large paper bags are fun, for chewing or hiding in. As are clean, tape free cardboard boxes. Small paper bags (like the kind we used to use for lunches in school. Now I have given away my age!

). Put some healthy treats in them and roll the tops shut. If they don't get it at first, poke some holes in them, and they can rip up the bags to get the treats. Also, hay is the best activity, eating, sleeping, pooping, they will use it for everything. Baby teething toys are good too. They can push or fling them around.

My muscovies generally look bored whether they have "toys" or not. They mostly glare at me if I chase them out of their pen for free-ranging. I just thought that was their temperament.

They generally do not like their pool, though today all six were taking turns splashing around in the water. This was only after I locked them out of their pen to avoid having them sit in their shelter all day long. When we picked them up from the breeder, they were mostly just sitting under trees and watching the world go by.
