My Ducks are Dirty

I dont take pics of my babies untill after they have a bath and the brooder is cleaned so dont worry we dont all have nice show ducks that you can pick up and cuddle, ours are just all dirty like yours. Iput mine in the bath every night while im cleaning their brooder but by morning they look like little ragamuffins again

Well, I just gave them a bath and they look and smell great...but the batteries are dead in the camera.

Brooding ducks takes a lot of work. hopefully it will be warm enough to put them in a pen outside during the day soon. I did put the waterer on a grate platform over a bin. I swore I would brood waterfowl too early in the spring again, so that I could put them outside once they were feathered out.

I think I got a very rare breed of duck... "Piggy" ducks!

In the brooder they made a little mess, In the outdoor pen they make a bigger mess

My babies like to make mud holes next to their waterer and dont get me started on the pool. When they were in the brooder it was pretty bad but I love my duckies so I came to a conclusion. I love my ducks becasue of the mess they can make

It's funny when they get outside and make a "chocolate bill" DH named it that because they will dip their bill into the mud that is next to the clean water and come out looking like they stuck their face in chocolate even tho they have clean clear water right next to the mud hole. Then they procede to clean chocolate bill in the clear water and get upset that they have dirty water again

This morning before work i walked outside and I have no idea how but both of my pekins had mud on the very top of their head and only on the top of their head and one of my rouens had poo on her back!!! I laughed because they are a mess. I love my ducks and I love their mess because they are happy
