I was more wondering around what foods could have potentially caused the issue or are adding to it and not overall helping her recover. Just trying to check all the boxes here.

The more I read about this Gleet issue, the more is sounds a lot like what she has. Especially with the whitish butt which made me originally post this thread...and we haven't found an answer for her bare abdomen. Just figure from it rubbing on the ground and moulting along with her laying a lot it was like that, but this yeast problem may just be the reason.

Are there certain foods she should not be eating?

Absolutely no breads or anything that contains baking yeast or smells 'yeasty"... that *could* multiply the yeast...

I'll bookmark this for the future! Would brewers yeast have any affect? Should I stop giving it to her?

Brewers yeast *should not* affect her issue in any way... different type of yeast...

Last vet visit today I hope. She got her final check up and is doing very well. Finally getting the okay to put her back with everyone overnight. She is up. 2kg from the last update too.

We were strongly recommended to get her shut down from laying eggs until next spring. Recommendations on what we should do for that? Really don't want to go hormones or implant route.

Giving a limited amount of daylight works on chickens, but my ducks lay pretty much year round, so I'm not sure how to stop them.

Giving a limited amount of daylight works on chickens, but my ducks lay pretty much year round, so I'm not sure how to stop them.

Vet recommended limiting to 8 hours of daylight only. Really not sure how we can do that right now since it's not dark till 8ish. Also eliminating oats, and other grains and going to straight cabbage, peas, kale diet with minimal grower feed (just a handful).

He said it's all about the calorie intake, she needs to be limited so extra calories are not put towards creating an egg.

I'd at least give her protein in some form,and She will leach calcium from her bones to make egg shells if she doesn't have adequate calcium in her diet. Might just be better to do the hormone thing.

Vet said often there is more protein in greens and a cube of like grass than there is in feed. The green are highlighly underestimated for protein.

The hormones are 300 per shot every 2 weeks. It's really not even an option.

I meant other ways of getting protein like meal worms canned salmon dry cat food.
I didn't know greens had much protein.

I can understand why you not thinking of the shots wow. Other than keeping her in a crate with a blanket over top I am not sure what you can do.

She does get meal worms. Alright, we will see how it goes. Probably just need to monitor and see if I feel any eggs or if she starts to put on weight again. Just don't want it to happen again. But she could just end up normal if she lays, just would rather give her more time
