I go here all the time for info on my Rouen drake. However I have a way different situation than most duck owners. On a snap decision my teenage son and his girlfriend brought home a male and female. Was told they were mallards. They lived the first couple months in a box inside. When big enough we moved them outside to a big dog cage. We have a little over an acre of land and would let them out to run the yard during the day and cage them at night. Toward the end of the first year the girl got snatched up by a owl. Now left with just the drake for 2 years, we didn't want another duck and they are social animals we started bringing him in more to be with our 2 dogs and a cat that only tolerate him. He is now a partial indoor duck who has puppy pads he is allowed to be on in the house as they poop all the time. He sits in our living room on our fireplace. And has a mirror in a different room with pads too. He is not in any kind of cage inside. He just seems to get the puppy pad rule. I have read on this site that it is not good to have them in the house but he seems more like a dog than a duck. He actually comes up the stairs when he is ready to come in. His favorite food is cherry tomatoes, and loves lettuce any cooked vegetable green beans especially , some fruits. He will eat most anything. He lives inside all winter, and outside all day during the summer and inside at night. Outside he still acts like a duck eating bugs and hangs out in our pond ,which is city run off backup , with wild mallards. Not sure if I am mom or girlfriend to him but favors me most and recently i think tries to hump my foot. He follows me everywhere already and probably 10 times has tried to hump me. I have to do what I read on this site once which is pin him to the ground till he stops fighting and that seems to work for like a day. So some questions besides him getting a mate, how do I stop him from humping me. And biting he love bites mostly but bites me more than anyone else. And it hurts when he does get ahold of me Also he is an excellent gaurd dog. He hears stuff before my dog. He is so funny and get a kick out of him but did not expect to be taking care of the equivalent of a toddler. All advice welcome.

LOL,ya they can be a hand full.I have a drake that acts like a kid more than a duck he jumps on my shoulder or head and yells at the rest of my ducks. If I don’t pay enough attention to him he lets me know he will poke me or bight at me to get my attention.he listens better than any dog. They do get a little wild when its matting season he thinks of you as another duck.I have one duck Junior he is a hand full yep he is that kid all the other mothers talk about LOL.A partner for him will probably calm him down they love companionship that’s what he is after and they do get frustrated my ducks yell at me all the time and throw hissy fits if they don’t get what they want.it sounds like you’re little guy just needs a companion.
