My Ducks Winter Shelter On Our Deck(PICS)

OK, so I wasn't seeing things but it was for the wrong intention. Ok, just wanted to clarify the difference what they actually were used for.

Thanks! Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving! My youngest ended up getting the flu just after dinner, he was perfectly fine all day, ate, played came to me with a horrific headache, I snuggled with him on my moms couch and his body got hotter and hotter. Still sick today, and it's hard for him not having his dad here when he's sick, he has wanted his dad to be here to snuggle him.

Get bottled dark cherry juice for him. You can also get canned dark cherries. It has to be dark cherries, because there is something in it that reduces fewer. Chamomile tea will calm him down, and also reduce coughing. Add some honey for sweetness and to sooth the sore throat. Spearmint and peppermint tea is good for clearing nasal passages. Mint teas do have a lot of oil in it and it can irritate the stomach and make a child through up. So don't have them drink it that all day. I also like to use Vicks Vaporub on the chest. It reduces coughing. Their inhaler stick also clears up the nostrils. I would stay away from children meds, they tend to make the child drowsy and don't make things that much better. They feel sick for a couple of days no matter what.

FunnyBunnies12 Just to set your mind at ease about your ducks feet in freezing temperatures- Ducks have whats called a counter-current heat exchange system between the arteries and veins in their legs. What this means basically is the the arteries going to the feet are very few and provide only enough blood to carry oxygen to keep the small amount of soft tissue on the feet alive. The veins then carry the blood back up the leg very close to the network or arteries carrying warm blood where it is warmed again before going into the body.
Because there is only a small amount of blood going through the feet- heat loss through the feet is kept to a minimum - therefore keeping the entire body warmer. So while their feet may feel cold when they are standing on snow- they do have their own inbuilt protection against the freezing temps.

Have your sister knit you a nice pair or slipper, keep fresh straw for Oreo, and get shoes from Nettie for "dress up". I'm going to get Elliot and Oliver shoes for Christmas. I think they look snazzy and I want to take the boys in town for a pet store visit once and a while. Yeah, I'm nutz
