I give my girls each a good backstratch a day, well the ones that want one anyway. My Buff orps, black aussie & my EEs are always in the mood for a good pet. I want them to be happy in everyway so I figure its my resposiblilty.

OMG!!! I have a hen that does this and I had no idea why. I mean, I know what the squatting is about, but the rest. . . No wonder she is so happy!!!!

I scratch my hens backside too but more for petting as well. Sometimes you can look at the vents to see if they are laying stage or not.

When they are not laying, they didnt squat for me at all. Funny girls!
