My egg case hatched! Guess what it was?? DUW!

they are so COOL! I had one land on me at the fair a couple of years ago, the kids nearly freaked, they had never seen one before. I always thought it was too cold up here.....haven't seen many since

I would definitely recommend this as a fun project with the kids! Its amazing to look at that brown lump for weeks and then find a bunch of babies. Im glad you all liked them! I was expecting an "Ewww, nasty" post!

I kept an adult on our screened in porch last season and she ate a lot of stink bugs for us

She laid an egg sack on the railing, but I don't think it's fertile. She'd been cooped up in our porch and I don't think she had acess to a mate. At at rate, it hasn't hatched, if it is fertile.

OMG too cool Jordan! Wow they hatched even though the ooth was set on the ground and not hung up? That's awesome, congrats! So cute! I finally gave away all my bugs, I don't have space/time for them in I'm going to be getting more snakes! But I had a budwing mantis, a orchid mantis, and a shield mantis. They were very cool!

My son and I caught a mantis last november or so and put her in a kritter keeper for a couple days and she layed/made an egg case , I let her go but the case was glued to the keeper so I keeped it , I never did hatch , Now im really sad it didnt cause those are some adorablely cute alien babies

oh, cuties!! I love mantis babies! And it's so fun to see them grow in the garden. What a great idea to hatch them in the jar
