So today I candled my eggs and my littlest egg has a small crack in it! The chick is just fine, but I'm afraid that crack will turn into much worse. My broody is hatching them and they are due to hatch in about five days. I also noticed that the nest is looking a bit sparse as far as bedding. So I put a ton more bedding in there to try to cushion it more. What should I do to keep my little baby healthy? Is there someway to tape it or something? I'm afraid that my hen will step on the poor thing and crack it.

I think you posted this entirely in the wrong section.

But, the thing to do is pour hot wax over the crack, and let it dry. It actually works great as a sealant.

Oops I meant to put this in the emergencies section.

So can I use a regular candle to seal it?

Far as I know, yes. I've personally never done it but seen many people do it.
