My eggs are due to hatch tonight/tomorrow

They were supposed to be silkies. I"m going to be sending a message to the person i bought them from because so far out of 6 NONE of them are silkies. I'm not mad or anything, just don't like being lied to.

Congratulations on the little peepers!! So if they aren't silkies, I wonder what they are! And idea?

They are terribly cute. I will be locking down my incubator tomorrow morning. I have a batch of Game Bird eggs from a friend of a friend. Nothing like "Hey can Jen hatch these eggs?" for me to end up with mystery birds. I don't even know what the parents look like!

Let us know if you find out what kind of babies you have there!!

I have to wait til they are older to really tell what breed they are. I mean so far there is yellow, Yellow with black spots, Red with one black spot, and a light orangy/yellow color. I am thinking this person has silkies but also has several other breeds of chicken in one pen. I don't think it was on purpose giving me eggs that werent silkies after telling me they were.
The red with the black spot is supposed to be a marran (SP?) chick. It came from a deep dark brown egg.
1 came from an off white egg, the rest were from white eggs. Knowing the color of egg they came from might help me figure out breed later on :)

My mom is happy that my eggs hatched. Now she wants me to hatch 4 dozen for her. *sigh*

The green egg that had cracked the shell in half but never got out died. Noted at 8 pm no movement, again at 9, 10, and 11 no movement from it. Then a few minutes ago still no movement. so i pulled the shell off. The chick was dead. At least 6 successfully hatched. 5 more still might hatch. I consider a 50% hatch rate from shipped eggs to be pretty good though. Would have been 7 out of 12 if that one had survived.

Congratulations!!!

Our eggs strated to hatch today..until now 5 out of 11, no movement in the others yet, today is the 21st day..so I'm hoping they could still hatch in the next 2-3 days!

No movement doesn't mean anything! 3 of my eggs didn't move at all then all of a sudden shake shake shake CRACK chick out. Within 3 minutes of the first bit of movement they were out. I never seen chicks hatch so fast. My first one that hatched was wiggling for days before it got out. Depends on the chick I guess :) Some are just straight to the point, others like to be dramatic and take their time.
As of 1 pm today, 6 healthy chicks. 5 eggs in the incubator. waiting til tomorrow to candle them and if no movement in them toss them. I know you aren't supposed to candle after lock down but I wanna make sure i'm not throwing out live chicks.
Hopefully the rest of your eggs hatch. If not remember 5 hatching is a success! Ironically I can legally own 6 and 6 successfully hatched. weird right?

I spoke too soon on the breed. Today looking at the chicks 2 have fluffy leg feathers. They didn't look like they did at all yesterday. I'm still hesitating to say those are silkies. Because i think some other breeds have feathered legs as well. seems like a weird mix of chicks i ended up with. 2 yellows, 2 yellow with black dot on head and feathered legs, 1 red with black spot on back (came from dark brown egg), and one red/black/yellow chick that came from a white egg.
