My eggs are hatching, I can hear peeps! ~~ One Hatched!

So today is day 22, and i was starting to give up hope. This is my first ever broody and im so excited! I went out and got some fertile eggs from one of my neighbors, i really dont know what breed they are i just wanted to hatch some chicks. I got 3 brown eggs andone green egg also 3 of my silkies eggs. My hen had been scared off her nest when a dog got in and killed her sister and i didnt know how long she was off them. A few days after i moved her into the house in a dog crate. We couldnt see through any of the eggs so we never knew what was going on. Yesterday was day 21 and i didnt hear or see anything happening. I just let her out to eat drink and got to the bathroom and i could hear peeps loud and clear!

I'm so excited!

Does anyone know how long it takes for them to hatch after they start to peep? Thanks! I cant wait!

Yayyy! It can take another day or two, but since you are already on day 22, hopefully not. Do you have pips yet? I've got two that pipped this morning and are now just sitting there. This is my second hatch and it happened this way last time, too.

I recently hatched out 5 chicks. The first one took 12 hours from the time of the first pip to hatching. I didn't actually check the time on the other 4, but I do remember holding my breath when they pipped and then did nothing for hours! I was watching then through the incubator window, straining to see the eggs occasionally twitch. When I thought nothing was happening because I couldn't see any larger cracks in the shell, the chick was working on it from the bottom side where I couldn't see it. I hope your babies make it successfully. Isn't it exciting?

I didnt see any pips and i havent heard them peep for awaihle. Geez, it can take 2 more days?!? I sure hope not, i dont think i can wait any longer! Maybe they pipped from the bottom. Mama is attacking my hand anytime i get anywhere near her so i havent been able to check in awaihle. I think she will be a good mom.

Havent seen anything, im too scared to touch them. I can hear the peeps still though.

Is it nomal to take this long? Waiting is terrible, but im oh so excited!

One has hatched!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At about 6 this morning i let her out and the egg had piped and was moving, Then when i got up about a half hour ago i went to let her out and a little head peeked out at me!

Finally On day 23 she hatched!

She is a little squirmy yellow baby. Her mom wasent too happy about me stealing her so i had to put her back.

i will get pictures sometime soon i hope!

Is there any hope for the other 6 eggs, and should i get her some friends? Thanks.
