My eggs are piping and I'm not sure if I should help or not.

Ive had one try to come out of small end and was smallest egg and biggest chick.I almost want to reach in screen and help you.If it was mine and took a long time id get it out.I use my finger nail,and just chip a small piece at a time.If you see blood,quit and put it back.Some people use tooth pick,but I'm scared of that.I also am not as experienced as the rest of these guys.This might just work for me.Id rather have one die out shell than in.I hardly ever lose one now,ive gotten to be a egg surgeon.

I don't want to risk hurting it by candling it but its beak is moving and its chirping. I also made sure that I put more water into the reservoir to make sure the outer membrane is not as dry.

Get a qtip and dampen it- gently use it to make the exposed membrane moist again- should be white and turn clear ish once wet. Be careful not to put it near beaks nose holes. I do this a lot since I constantly help at the end. And I have never had a chick shrink wrapped. If it's been more than 12 hours since external pip and no progress I gently chip away to make a bigger hole. Also play chicks chirping on YouTube. They will probably be fine and can hatch themselves but I always help mine after a certain time with no progress

So far 4 eggs have hatched and the newest one bled a bit from the cord. I am thinking that the blood on the still pipping egg is also from the cord.

They need that final day between pip and zip to absorb everything and come out clean.

All but one have finished hatching. The one that hasn't hatched is pretty close however. One egg didn't even pip yesterday and it hatched safely today

It still has it's cord so I am guessing that I should leave it alone until its falls, right

I give them 18 hours, especially for a malepositioned because it is skipping the step from pipping into the air cell, resting and strengthening, giving nature time to finish it's thing before moving to the next step of external pipping. I do keep the membranes moist witha q-tip and widen the pip hole just to make sure it's position isn't messed up so bad it can't make any progress.

The egg that has pipped at the bottom, has pipped directly into membrane where there is still heavy veining. Many times with malepositioned pips, they actually nip the vein and you will see bit of blood. A lot of blood and there could be trouble if it is not stopped.

Congrats on the hatchers, and you can leave it alone, if it doesn't detach itself you can cut it. Keep an eye on the other chicks though to make sure they do not peck at it.

So they all hatched! I had to help the last one a bit but he seems to be fine.
