It is the rest of the yolk...that isn't absorbed all the way...

That is ok as well..remember when you candle and see the veins...blood is in those veins...

a sharpie marker black one if you got it...when you take them out of bator..stick a visible black dot/circle on there thick part of legs...It will last for days..

Do you open it while others are hatching to mark them? i was thinking a different color sharpie for each type...but if 3 kinds hatch at the same time how do you get them marked before you get confused?

It is ok..it could absorb the rest...or it will dry up and fall off...just try to keep track to make sure there it doesn't get stuck on anything as it is drying...please remember that don't open the incubator...

Do not pull on it either...it can make the insides come out...

I write down all info on paper...any certain characteristics...etc..so that I know what chick is what...and wehn you take all chicks out of the incubator..that's when I mark mine...
