Morning, y'all!
Rachel is still pretty wobbly this morning. More than I thought. She's dry but crusty just like the other olive egger was. I took her out of the bator and put her in the brooder, and let me tell you! Whew, Madeline is feeling those Wheaties that Sonew said she feeds them
She was horrid to poor Rachel who is still not too steady on her legs. I removed Madeline and held her myself for a bit and Bella and Rachel are fine together. Then I added Madeline back to the mix and she made a beeline for Rachel and began pecking, hard. And then Bella joined in. Poor Rachel just cowers. So that's why she's back in the bator til she can stand solidly on those legs and show Madeline who's boss.
On another note, since I've gotten to handle them, both olive EE's have feathered legs on the outside of the shanks. Especially Rachel! The ones I had before didn't have that. They just had green legs. How cool is that??
We have no more pips and no wiggling that I could see this morning. I think we may be finished. #14 was wiggling pretty good last night but still has not pipped. If it does, that will be 3 olive eggers and one silkie. Not bad for all these eggs have been through I think. A rough ride here, a temp spike early, swinging temps at lockdown, hey, I am happy and looking forward to the middle of February to do it all again!! right now, I will leave the others in there for another day or two, and hope for at least one more.
