Hello,

My eggs have gone past day 21, its now day 23. I'm incubating the eggs, NOT using a broody. Should I leave them another few days, or end it and crack them open and see?

Please help! Thank you

I have not had any luck with overdue eggs.
Cracked just one and see what you have.
We crack ours outside by the creek just in case.

Id be patient another day-then carefully break open where the air sack is--to see if there's any movement or breathing--if there is maybe then help them out?

Take a very sharp object and puncture the air sac end, peal a little of the shell and look down into egg if there is a live chick you will see breathing, it then is a slow process to get the baby out alive. If you have any of those you can PM me and I will try to help. But will not be here long got to go boating!

I don't have much experience but I just hatched out 6 chicks under a broody. The first one didn't pip until day 23 and wasn't hatched until the next day. The last one hatched on the 25th. So I would wait a few more days if I were you.
Good luck!
Val

Cute!
But don't ducks take an extra week compared to chickens?

Yes,28 days on the ducks.

Do not touch the eggs, do not break them open. Let them sit. I have a chick hatching right now on day 24. Get rid of them if nothing happens past day 25.
If you smell anything bad, end the hatch. Until then, sit tight.

I also leave them alone and let them go to day 25. I have had 1 or 2 hatch around day 25, I blame it on temps.

After day 25, I give up!
