My electrified poultry fencing arrived today... PICS page 2!!

What a great set up!!

Just wondering, where do you get this fencing from? And roughly how much is it? It looks great. Has anyone had any problems with it with predators?

Cheers!!

I got it from Premier Fencing online. If you call them they are very helpful. It's not cheap though. But as long as it's hot (electrified), it is supposed to keep predators at bay (in my case, foxes). It's what many people use who pasture their poultry. I saw it in this month's McMurray hatchery catalogue, but I think they're getting it from Premier.

I used the Premier fencing last summer. I bought the 165' set and found it easy to move around the yard to keep the birds from completely destroying the grass. Once a week I'd move it to a different location.

Good to hear OPA. How does it do for you in winter? Did you have solar power? Any predators?

I spent time today learning how to strip insulated cable wire. Arrghh. I'm just NOT handy! I kept cutting the wires or nicking them. Then I borrowed the proper tool from a family member, however, it was not as simple as it looked with that either. I have LOTS of bits of wire and rubber in my coat pocket now. Argh. Fence is still not fully functional. (Partly because it got too cold to work outside, and then I was out of town for a week.) Hopefully will finish working out these details soon.

I haven't used the fencing in the winter. In the summer you will need to insure that the grass or weeds don't get to high or it won't work effectively. Also the fence will not be as tight when install as you might expect. I'm sending you a PM with my cell # if you'd like advice.
