My favorite baby is dead

I want to thank you all for your tenderness and understanding a couple months back when I lost my favorite baby. That was very kind and helpful of you all. The good news is that I kept my flock in a protected run for weeks after that and have reverted back to letting them free-roam now. I know the risk is always there, but they are so much happier this way.

Wishing you all the best of health and safety for your feathered friends!

Not to sound hard but it's time to take steps so you don't lose more. 2' hardware around the base of the pen will stop reach thru at chicken level. Make sure the top is secure as well as make sure your skirting is intact. This will help prevent further heartbreak cause the killer will come back!

thanks bryan. this one was a bird of prey. I lock them all up at night in a plywood coop - so far so good with that. The one we lost to the bird of prey was a couple months back and none since. I think having a large roo with a 'tude around now helps.
