At first I did not notice the leg color ( too busy looking at the birds huge combs and wattles LOl ) but after reading the other post went back to take a closer look - ahhh I get it now , but have to admit the barring really looks very similar is it just the picture or is your barred rock a little darker?
I have to admit I also love the bigger birds, but I do have two banty's in my little flock one roo and one hen I dont think I could trade my little roo for anything he such a funny little handful.
What do you consider a fru fru breed? just wondering if I have them LOL

Fru fru is my term for silkies, naked necks, the show girl crosses, etc. raised more for looks than producing eggs or meat.

My barred rocks are darker. In general Cuckoo Maran roosters are light colored. It is one way to try to guess early which will be male and which will be female. Male cuckoo marans are general much lighter than the females.

oh ok thank you I thought the barred looked darker was not sure if it was just the picture or his color.
- I have never really liked the look of the naked necks I am sure they are fine chickens but they just look to strange for me - I do kinda like the look of silkies but if they dont lay well i might not get any.

I suppose Ill never see chickens in quite the micrscopic detail that others do.

For the record, I am not a Virginian. I was born and bred in S.C. and raised in Ga. But being a Virginian isn't Yankee. Virginia is part of the south. You wouldn't dare call good Ole Robert E. Lee a yankee would you? I didn't think so.
