My favourite hen is fading away☹

Thought I would update anyone interested. The 3 days of prednisolone, isolating just for feeds of extra protein and treats and just in case treating legs for scale had a positive effect. She even started laying again! She still wouldn't roost but was moving around a bit more and socialising. Sadly we had to evacuate from bushfires so as I have only a small run inside the coop I had to risk assess with heat and leave door to coop open for the 2 nights we were away. She and 7 10 week old chicks disappeared. I can only assume as many used to snuggle with her that they were all taken by foxes. Sad after all the extra effort to get her well but given the terrible stock and wildlife losses across Australia at the moment......anyway again thanks for the support and ideas.

Sadly I think the feral cats and foxes are going to decimate more than chickens with so many wild animals many small losing feed and protective habitat. Will take years or if ever to recover.

Our hearts are aching for what is happening to Australia, it is devastating to all of us. Even though it is far away in miles, we are all still neighbors as we share this fragile planet, and of course our hearts hurt for every life lost. We see the loss to wildlife and domestic animals on the news and feel so helpless, there is nothing we can do to help. We support the fire fighters and victims with our prayers, please know that we care, very much!
