DH and I graduated from college today. Yay, right? You'd think so.
The walk from car to coliseum was about a mile. I was wearing my comfiest heels, but I was still hurtin' bad by the time we got there.
So, I decided to barefoot it back to the car afterwards. The pavement was a bit hot but it felt nice enough, and way more comfortable than shoes.
Apparently the warmth kept me from feeling how much damage I was doing to my feet. I sat down in the car and all of a sudden my feet were on FIRE!
My entire heels, the balls of both feet and the middle three toes on both feet are covered in giant blisters.

I can only barely walk now that they've cooled down. I'm in tempur-pedic squish shoes, I've taken a dose of Midol (only anti-inflammatory we have on hand) and I'm not doing chores tonight.

Anyone have any herbal/kitchen remedy/clever ideas to help my feet heal faster?

The punchline to this joke:
My degree, you ask?
Biology.

You might try Epsom salts - it may sting a little initially but it is what I use a lot when I have some sort of wound. It really seems to help the healing process along. I use them almost nightly in the tub. Good Luck...hope you feel better soon. Your poor feet sound so painful! Congrats to you and your husband on your graduation!

Ditto! And some aloe vera as well.

Epson salt, aloe vera, and DO prop them up! Keep off them as much as possible. I used to pull 12 hr shifts in a factory, your post is a painful reminder. I hope you get to feeling better soon!

I vote for epsom salts......and Birkenstocks.
A foot massage wouldn't hurt either!

ice them 15min on 15 min off

massage them lotion them

you may have burned the bottoms of your feet on the hot pavement, or given yourself road rash from walking bare foot

make sure you have no open sores from the abrasion if so make sure you clean them

aloe will help

loose slippers that will cushion your feet...hopefully they will feel a bit better in the morning.

Ooooh I like the aloe idea!

COLD aloe gel from the freezer!
Don't have any epsom salts, but I can ask the Man to go get some.
The honey idea is good too, although I might take it orally in a solution of Jack Daniels.

Normally I'd be all over a foot massage would be heaven, but I might kill anyone who touched my feet right now.

I'm not sure if they're hot pavement burns or walking blisters. Either way this bag of frozen peas feels great.

Jack Daniels, why didn't I think of that? I was so wrapped up in my Epsom Salt RX I didn't even THINK of Jack! Send your newly graduated husband out for the Espsom Salts...you'll be glad you did. The cold Aloe Vera would feel oh, so much better on feet that have been soaked for about 30 minutes. You'll be amazed at how much better they'll feel. It really takes the inflamation out.
