Regarding humping: I just talked to my niece who has 40 chickens for 15 years now. She told me it''s dominance for one hen to hump others and not to worry, It's just like what dogs do.

It's been quiet awhile since April 2014, went I posted. My hen is still humping my other hen, but not as often. The other hen doesn't mind it a bit. I guess it's just chicken thing for some.Good to see this thread. I am new to chickens and noticed my EE (Sadie Hawk) ran over to my RIR (Gretta van SO Stern) and mounted her for a few seconds. We CAN'T have roosters in the city. Sadie does not crow in the morning nor has she laid any eggs. I first thought she might be a trans-chicken, but think not, now that I've read these threads.
As of Sept 2015 she's definitely a hen almost 1 year.Could you post pictures? Either them in the act or to see if it's actually a hen or cockerel.
I've had chickens my whole life. Never saw a female chicken mount another.
Two of my hens have started humping the lowest ranking hen (all are layers) I guess it beats getting pecked! My female Frizzle is humping my Silkies, none of them are old enough to lay.
