It took more time and money than I expected, but our first coop is done! The White House. (All our pets have patriotic names, and our chickens are all named for famous women in US history.) my dad and brother were a huge help. I drew up plans based on some I've seen here and Pinterest. I had wanted the roof slopes to the back but because of the closeness to the neighbors yard we decided to slope towards our house instead, to avoid water runoff into their yard, and added a small back roof to block the winds that normally come from that direction.

Just an FYI my mom also on her first coop only went up 3 ft with hardware cloth over the chicken wire only later to be sorry when the predators came the fowl flew in fear latched onto the side wire of the cage only to get harmed and killed. You may want to go all the way up with the hardware cloth.

It looks great, nice craftsmanship! My only concern would be the chicken wire also. You could have just used hardware cloth all the way up and no chicken wire. Maybe you were trying to save money there, since it cost more than expected? If you decide to add it, check Amazon and Walmart.com for good prices.

Btw, the only reason I asked was because I just finished mine as well and it's fairly similar.

I just saw yours last night too, great job!

I think the design I mostly based it off is the Wichita coop? Think that's what it's called. Then I looked at a ton of other coops on here and Pinterest to get ideas and drew up my own plan.

I was trying to save money by doing hardware cloth just on the bottom, but if I'd known how much the whole thing was going to end up costing I would have just done it all since we blew the budget anyway lol.
