The second of my babies has laid her first egg! Shula is daughter of Bunny my Black Copper Marans hen. Shulas first egg is dark but lighter than moms eggs due to dad Albert.

What a pretty hen! I have a hen that looks as pretty as her but is gray with a lil light brown around the neck. She's one of my incubator hen's and just started laying about 2 months ago. However, her first eggs were about the size of a quarter, they're normal, now. Congratulations! Woot, woot!

Thank you! Yes she is a pretty girl. Yours sounds very similar to Shulas Auntie Doris who is a Blue Black Marans, one of my favorite ladies. Shulas mama is Black Copper Marans. I say Shula is dark and lovely hence the name Shula, an homage to King Solomons true love, only ever referred to as a Shulamite woman. (Song Of Solomon 1:5)
