My first “baby egg”!

It’s always eggciting to find the first egg. It’s just as eggciting to find each individual pullets first egg. It’s even eggciting to find eggs day after day, it just seems like a miracle.
I’ve been tending chickens for four years now almost to the day. All of my chickens, except for my roosters that I “inherited”, have been purchased from a single breeder. Today I am proud to say I found the very first egg from one of the four pullets that one of my hens hatched this summer, my very first chick hatching ever! So I’ve come full circle!
I really didn’t expect Mabel to be the first of the four because she’s last to have her comb swell and turn red. She’s an OE and this little egg is a beautiful Olive color .

Thank you! And I never wanted a rooster. Bad experiences. But this guy is just so chill! I love him!
